So this great band needs its own topic.

I just got back from seeing them live at the Greek Theater here in Los Angeles.

My God they were fucking amazing. Blew my mind.

Great way to send off my stay here.

Anyways if you guys get the chance to see them and they come trough your town...SEE THEM

Great band!! First song that got me into them was a live performance of Fake Empire.

Their latest album is really good. One of my favorite bands is Joy Division, so I really like The National you can literally hear the influence. Interpol and Editors are great too.

I've been following these guys for a long time. At the time I could never really find a modern band or singer that I absolutely loved. Then a friend took me to a show and they were playing a few songs and something in my head just clicked with them. Everything I love in music they have.

New Editors stuff is great. Much better than their last which I loved also.

I agree. Honestly, people criticize her just because of the way she looks and the allegations regarding her genitals, it's stupid people are jealous. She has an amazing voice, like listen to one of her acoustic performances. Sure, a lot of her songs are generic club shit, but some of it is really good and she does a lot to help the LGBT community.

Way better than Ke$ha.

I think Lady Gaga is very talented. It's just that she uses it for the wrong reasons. I've heard her sing, like really sing, and she was quite good.

Katy Perry, however, is absolute shite.

And neither one is as good as Amy Winehouse was.

Katy Perry is a Christian music reject (and, having being exposed to CCM growing up, that seems pretty fucking hard to manage).  She only made it big when she started flaunting her chest and singing about kissing another girl.

Nicki Minaj is the worst "artist" to ever hit radio.  There is no redeeming aspect to her music whatsoever (and I don't think there's many redeeming aspects to HER, period).

Gaga's act is obnoxiously over the top, and I don't care for her, but at least she's got some sense on how to construct songs (she can write a hook, if nothing else, and when it comes to pop that's more important than being "good").

Rihanna is an idiot.  I actually think she can sing reasonably well, but her songs are insanely repetitive and god awful.  Plus, she took back the guy who turned her face into hamburger, so that shows her IQ.

Amy Winehouse...meh.

Anyway, I gave a few of The National's songs a listen: it's nothing I'd listen to on a regular basis, but it's not awful.
