I like to believe you can't label a good band.
Led Zeppelin started off Blues, became hard rock, indirectly created metal, and went through a disco/pop stage.
Iron Maiden is subjectively the heaviest of them all, but even they got a little poppy.

Black Sabbath is, as you said, the trademark metal band. But some of their stuff just isn't really ~heavy~ enough to be considered traditional metal imo. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Wtf? Thought this was the music thread. I think Don't Swallow the Cap is definitely contender for best song on the album.

LP isn't that bad. Aren't you like, into your 20s? You must have been a teen around when they started to get big. I grew up listening to them so I love them, maybe if I hadn't, I'd have a different opinion. They sound quite a bit different than the "emo-ish" days of Hybrid and Meteora. Same awesome guitar riffs, but now a larger use of synth and electronic instrumentation.

I'm not a mad fan of LP, but they are fantastic live.
